Plaka

The village of Plaka or Morohova is built on the left bank of the western Erymanthos River, at an altitude of 800 m. Plaka escaped the decline and abandonment that hit so deeply many villages of the Municipality of Aroania. Several young people of the village remained there, engaged in livestock farming and building trades, as well as other work. An interesting natural monument in the area is the cave with a large opening at the site of Lavi, which is believed to be very deep. It crosses an entire mountain and ends at the same height on the other side with the same opening, in the area of the Local Department of Astra, Municipality of Lambeia. Notable monuments are the house of Nikolaos Keki and the fountain in the village. Plaka experienced the fury of the Germans during their short occupation of Greece. In their passage through there they burned the village and with it some mansions that were real monuments of traditional architecture.
