Kameniani

Kameniani is a picturesque and historic village with a rich heritage. The settlement of Drovolovos belongs to Kamenianoi administratively. The village is built at an altitude of 900 - 960 m. It is clinging to a green mountainside, near the mythical Kaprivina. According to mythology, it was in the area of Kaprivina (Kapri + baino = wild boar passage) that Hercules captured the Erymanthian Boar.

The route from the provincial road to the village is about 4 km. It is very pleasant and impressive because of the many plane trees, oaks and vineyards in the area. This beauty is complemented by the gurgling waters of the torrents running in the gullies. The first stop is the spring of 'Megali Vrysi', which can be found in the village plain. The largest source of supply for the Erymanthus River, according to Pukeville. Traditional houses and churches, made from the rich materials of the village (stones, lime, etc.). show the image of a well-preserved village by the locals.

The historical past of the village is evidenced by findings, ruins, as well as some fragments of ancient columns of the 5th century BC found in the 'historical threshing floor of Xenochristos' east of the village, as well as in other parts of the village. In Kamenianos, the most important Folklore Museum of the region has been operating for years, in the area of the Primary School, and is worth a visit.

In Drovolovo, the historic Cave of Panagia Drovolovo, which was a pre-Christian cult cave, but also a place with a glorious Christian and historical past, is of great interest. It was here that Paleon Patron Germanos was imprisoned by Gouras' troops during the unfortunate civil strife around the end of 1825. A figurine of Aphrodite, from the 5th century BC, has also been found.

In Drovolovo, the tower of Verroia, a building from around 1780, is also preserved. An important figure of the Kamenians during the Holy Liberation Struggle of 1821 was the chieftain Xenochristos Nikolopoulos, who was killed during the siege of Patras on 12 July 1821. Today his bust adorns the central square of the village.
