Alestaina is a small, picturesque village, located on a green hillside, between the Aronian River and the Serres Mountains, at an altitude of about 900 m. The village, according to the historian of our province, the late George Papandreou, is not very old, its first inhabitants, farmers and stockbreeders in the majority were invited there by the Monastery of Faneromeni of Sopot to which the larger district belonged, as a Metochi.
