Planitero is 25 km away from Kalavrita, on the road leading to Klitoria, and is built amphitheatrically (at an altitude of 697m), above the beautiful plane forest of the springs of Aroanios and the Ladon River.

Nature is magnificent here; it is so rich and endowed that it keeps you enchanted. A lush, impressive forest of century-old plane trees with towering trunks looms before us. Abundant, crystal clear waters gushing out of the rocks keep the traditional, stone-built watermill in continuous operation, giving us images of the everyday life of another era.

In Planitero, there are taverns around the springs, offering mainly trout, cooked in various ways; an excellent, beneficial dish, which you should definitely try if you find yourself in the area. The taverns even have their own fish farms, where you can watch how the fish is caught before it is cooked!

The area of Planitera is located within the Natura 2000 site "Mount Helmos and Stygos waters". Some very nice hiking trails start from here (to Elatofyto, Mazi, Dourduvana), but also the E4 trail to Lousous and Kalavrita. Indulge in the beauty of the landscape. We are in the place where Pausanias (160 BC) toured to hear the "toothless fish", that is, the trout of the Aronian River, which were famous for singing! Let's wander there... Let's listen to the ancient melody in an idyllic setting!
